Just about every established hike along the Blue Ridge Parkway is going to be worth your effort. But if you’re ready to explore some spots away from the better-known High Country haunts, Doughton Recreation Area might be calling.

Doughton offers Sunday strolls and mountain treks, depending on what you’re ready for.

Doughton Park is also along the Mountains to Sea Trail, which runs from Clingman's Dome to the Outerbanks and runs along the Blue Ridge Parkway for many miles through the mountains of western North Carolina.
